Tafari Lorman was born in Jamaica in the year of 1999. He migrated with his family to the U.S when he was two years old, and has lived in the Bronx ever since. His parents are both educators and song writers. Tafari has always had an interest in music. From his preschool years through elementary and middle school, he has participated in schools’ performances as a member of the choir. His aspiration to become a recording artist was realized at the tender age of ten years old, when he recorded a CD of motivational children songs.
The mass media has furthered his appreciation for music, along with some influence from people around his environment. His first love was reggae, finding joy in listening to artists such as Buju Banton, Shabba Ranks and Bob Marley. However, he is also a big fan of artists from a variety of genres, enjoying hits from alternative artists such as Two Door Cinema Club, Foster the People and Arctic Monkeys, along with rap mainstays such as Jay-Z, Kanye West, Drake and Macklemore &Ryan Lewis, in addition to R&B artists such as Beyonce’ and Janelle Monae. He also enjoys artists in these genres from around the world, such as M.I.A and Miike Snow, while finding interests in a variety of cultures. Tafari currently attends one of New York State‘s top high schools.
